Setting up the torch is a critical step - It is much less forgiving
than others.
"Please read and understand the the user manual, especially
the Safety and Warning sections. Do not forget to install the check
valves."
You use the #3 tip (3 rings) for pressure setting
|
|
Both valves on the torch handle (red and blue) should be fully
open.
|
  |
Increase the pressure on the regulator on the acetelyne to 1 PSI
and light,
Then increase to approximately 4 1/2PSI - slowly increase oxygen
pressure until neutral flame is obtained.
|
 |
This is a gauge calibration check - This also takes into account
all hose and regulator combinations.
|
 |
Just off feather or neutral flame. |
 |
You want the cone to be 1/2" to 9/16"
- In the field, the large end of the provided wrench measures 1/2"
and is a handy ruler. |
 |
Turn oxygen in until you see this small cone and it measues 1/2"
to 9/16".
This is what we call the neutral flame - when the "feather"
just dissapears.
|
 |
Now select your tip (see page 6 of manual)
- #00: Jewelry work or extremely thin sheet metal
- #0: paper thin sheet metal to 1/16" thick
- #1/2 tip: used in demonstrations good for 20 GA sheet metal
and chromemoly tubing
- #1: 1/16" to 1/18"
- #2: 1/8" to 3/8" (also used when cutting)
- #2 1/2: for 3/8" to 1/2" welding.
- #3: for heating and bending (setting pressure)
- Copper tip: for cutting
