These Lenses are excellent for removing the Yellow/Orange flare associated with the use of fluxes AND the harmful rays of IR and UV. 

The clarity is as good as any other lens on the market today.

IR Cobalt lenses meet the following ANSI Z-87.1 gas welding Standards..

The Cobra IR Cobalt lenses reduces the IR transmittance to 1.2%. The visible light transmission is .25%. The Far UV is less than 1.0 X 10-3.

The requirement for a Shade 7 welding lens is:
Visible light 0.44%-0.164%
Max IR 1.3%
Max Far UV .007%

Since these lenses meet the transmission requirements of a Shade 7 filter, it can be used for welding application calling for a shade 7 or less. The generally accepted filters for gas welding is a shade 4-7 and torch brazing is shade 3-4.
